Why Go: An Ankara classic, the Ataturk Forest Farm, or AOC, was established by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and donated to the Turkish State in 1937. The expansive park features farms, restaurants, and a model of the house Ataturk was born in. Visitors can sample many of the foods produced organically onsite. Locals love the ice cream and dairy products, which can be purchased elsewhere in the city but taste best at the source. Or, if you are in the mood for imbibing, there is also a brewery on site. In 2014, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan caused some controversy by erecting a new 1000 room Presidential Palace on the grounds of the AOC.
